Public Events

Each year, the project organises a public event related to the topic of first-person thought and the nature of the self.

This year, our event will be a part of May Festival 2019 at the University of Aberdeen and will take place on the 26th of May. Dr Sheila Cunningham (Abertay University) will give a talk titled ‘Understanding the self: a functional psychology perspective’. For more information please go to Public Lecture 2019.

For our first public event we held a screening of Being John Malkovich followed by a discussion of the philosophical issues raised by the film.

Our second event, a public lecture delivered by Dr Mark Sprevak (University of Edinburgh) titled ‘Robots who Know Themselves‘, was a part of Aberdeen’s May Festival in 2018.
